ACTIVITIES DURING THE YEAR 2009

An unforgettable journey within the heart of France as we were hosted in a charming home in an authentic rural region with down to earth natives and beautiful sceneries. Regional Heritage Exploration

Marielle, who has been for many years an international bilingual guide, has put together for you   an orientation walking tour of the « Old Treignac » as well as half a  day tour (architecture, nature, food and arts) or 1 day discovery tour around the surrounding Correze region in order  to explore the regional heritage main attractions.

Marielle will share her knowledge of her family’s native region and its inhabitants within this unique insiders exploration tour of local trendy homes.

Hiking Encounters

Each Saturday, departing at 2pm from Treignac’s tourist office with a 2 to 3 hours hiking tour to discover what the surrounding countryside has to offer. From July, the departures will take place each Friday at 2pm.

Join Hervé, a professional state licensed guide and tour escort which license also includes mild mountain climbing, and discover with him various nature trails. He will share with you his passion for his region as well as his extensive knowledge about the surrounding countryside; once you will have hiked for ½ day or a full day, your memory will be filled with   beautiful snap shots of the local countryside and you will be just ready then to sample Marielle’s refined cuisine. A large selection of various trails is available, through canyons, peat bogs …, combining the discovery of rural traditional buildings spread over a unique natural environment, and the exploration of places with such names as « the druid’s stone », « the Vezere river canyon » « the Monédière », the Millevaches (1000 cows) plateau », the ruins of « Cars », « the Longeyroux peat bog », « The Bessou Mountain » and many more…

Massages, relaxation and Reflexology:

A licensed lady masseur, with credits in acupuncture, reflexology, relaxation, is available upon reservation. After this session you will leave in a completely « Zen » state of mind and body (all our guests who tried it loved it)

Book far ahead, mostly in the summer months.

This massage is even more appreciated after enjoying a hike or some of our local water activities, such as a river rafting expedition or a canoe-kayaking river run or any other water sports available on our local rivers and lakes.

Meet Isabelle Bailly,   a human resources trainer and teacher in book history and books traditional binding. « A garden within yourself » is defining the creation of your resourcing base plate, through sophro-relaxation. These tools will allow you to clear, plant, germinate, hand-hoe, harvest your various potentials ». « The airlock Quest » is an apprenticeship of reflexes promoting stress management.

If reading is one of your favorite pastime, if books are precious to you, if manual activities are part of your hobbies, here is a workshop perfect for you. It features the teaching of book binding techniques but extends to photo album and photo boxes in the making and also involves the construction of personalized notebooks and books, book cases or boxes of all kinds, either used as a protection against time or just to treat yourself to a fancy book case.

Bridge Games

Every Mondays and Thursdays, duplicate style bridge games are organized at the town’s activities hall, starting at 8:15 pm sharp. A 2 Euros per player participation fee is required. Marielle and Francois play occasionally, depending on their schedule.

Very lively bridge games within this beautiful medieval little town.

During the  low season ( November to May) Marielle offers various  programs of hands-on cooking workshops , using regional recipes or rejuvenated recipes for ducks … or using  other  local ingredients , produces or products…Creative dishes, light , quickly prepared are presented  and explained for our «  active »  cooking students type.

Marielle, an excellent cook herself, works in conjunction with a local chef who will share his experience by putting together hands-on classes of refined dishes you will prepare and then sample afterwards during a meal at his restaurant’s.

These workshops are designed by two teachers who are perfectly supplementing each other (one for home cooking, one for restaurant cooking). Our former students seemed to love it. You may supplement the workshop by visiting a « top of the line » chocolate store or a reward holder duck farm.

Fly-fishing

Several streams around Treignac are good for fly-fishing.

We can offer a fly-fishing introduction program including the participation of a regional professional guide helping you to discover the fishing various spots and to learn more about catch and release methods.

Weather permitting; we can also offer accompanied crayfish fishing.

Would you enjoy fly-fishing, these nature lovers will guide you for an exceptional experience along the Correze Rivers and streams.

Medieval dinners can be organized but then reservation must be made far ahead and the final approval will depend on the cook’s schedule.

You will be joined by medieval times loving individuals who will share with you their past experience in that field; just enjoy a back in time travel within a  casual and lively party environment filled with humor.

We can also go one step further and create a complete musical and entertainment medieval background for the dinner…with some advance notice, of course...

Painting Encounters and Workshops

Come to discover your own world of creativity and go deep into your own artistic resources, therefore approaching painting in a different way.

Around a theme, let your intuition guide you, through an open and responsive approach, and then your canvas will come to life by itself.

These painting encounters are open to all, whatever your talent or experience. It is an intuitive approach to painting allowing revealing your own self.

Musical Encounters

Summertime is the perfect season for many musical concerts or other encounters.

Please check the current special events schedule at the Tourist Office.

Our on-going project is to feature more local cultural events such as concerts related to all kinds of music, such as lyrical, classical, contemporary, jazz, rock, French and Occitan traditional music, forever and today poets’ song texts….
We wish to organize concerts featuring famous and renowned artists, during the summer, and other seasons, favoring a reasonable price for a better access to all.
If musical activities are of some interest for you, please feel free to ask us for the list of current regional summertime concerts.

Some more sport activities may also be available, aside from the regular canoe-kayaking type, such as hang gliding or paragliding from the mountains, or any other sport in conjunction with local rivers and lakes or among its forest trails. You may even be returning from a hiking or biking expeditions with a basket full of local king bolete or chanterelle mushrooms you would have picked up along the way.

Nature-oriented leisure activities may be sampled on your own or accompanied by  other passionate individuals with whom we will arrange for you to meet.

Just ask and, if it is possible, we will fulfill your request. Our guests have learned along the years  that, at « Maison Grand Champ », there  is  really no limit to what we can do  for them!
